Point To Multipoint Wireless Equipment

Wireless products are making it easier for businesses and government installations to stay connected, and with the ability to bridge one facility to another without laying new cable, even budget-minded customers can upgrade with very little upfront.

Avoiding Backhaul with Point-to-Point and Point-to-Multipoint WiFi Equipment

Traditionally, if you wanted to update a WiFi network, you’d have to install wiring throughout a building and add access points to each and every office or floor where you planned to offer WiFi service. Depending on the size of the job, that kind of backhaul could be incredibly expensive. Avoiding backhaul is now done using point-to-point and point-to-multipoint WiFi equipment and products.

Point-to-point and multipoint equipment provides service by using a network bridge to send and receive signals from one network to another. For example, if you put a dish antenna on the top of one building and pointed it at another on a second building, the two could be calibrated to operate as a bridge between the two networks. This would bypass the need to connect WiFi equipment directly to each structure.

Creating a Point-to-Multipoint Bridge

If your business or facility needs to create a point-to-multipoint bridge, then you’ll first need base station equipment to serve as the primary distributor, followed by a series of subscriber modules. The subscriber modules serve as the access points for each network, while the base station is the hub for all connectivity.
